Nakanishi Equine hosts ‘Ride for a Purpose’ n honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Lassen County equestrians have an opportunity to hit the trails, connect with fellow horse enthusiasts and give back to our community this month, according to a Facebook post by Lassen Family Services.

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Nakanishi Equine is hosting “Ride for a Purpose,” a special benefit trail ride at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.

The event aims to unite the local horse community while raising vital support and funding for Lassen Family Services in their continued mission to help individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

“This isn’t just a trail ride — it’s an opportunity to ride together, meet other horse people, make new friends, and give back to our community,” says owner Natalie Nakanishi.

“I’ve always wanted to see our local horse community grow not just in numbers, but in the way we show up for each other. What better way to do that than getting together, enjoying our horses, making memories and supporting a great cause?”

The entry fee is $60 per rider, with proceeds directly benefiting Lassen Family Services. The afternoon features a group trail ride followed by post-ride games, raffle prizes and plenty of good company. Participants can wrap up the evening warming up by the bonfire with s’mores, hot cider, hot cocoa and a hearty meal.

Riders of all experience levels are welcome to take part, whether participating with friends or showing up solo to meet new riding partners. For current Nakanishi Equine clients who do not have their own mount, a limited number of horses are available to ride, though organizers emphasize checking availability right away.

Because trail spots and lesson horses are strictly limited, riders are encouraged to sign up early so organizers can coordinate proper food and trail arrangements. A $15 deposit reserves your spot, with the remaining balance due on the day of the ride.
