New LRB service benefits at-risk residents
Starting Friday April 3, Lassen Rural Bus offers a Special Delivery Service to the At-Risk Population in our community.
This is a free service for those who are not able to leave their house for risk of their health. This includes senior citizens 60 or older anyone with a pre-existing condition and anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID 19 (coronavirus).
According to a statement from LRB, “We will be continuing this service until further notice. We will be able to offer this for the Susanville area from the hours of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the week and until 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays. For the county areas we will be able to offer this service during our midday and PM routes. Please refer to our Riders Guide to find out what times would work best for you or call our office at 252-7433 (252-RIDE).”
To take advantage of this service, you can order online or go through your local stores. Orders need to be groceries or prescriptions only; we are not able to deliver live animals or plants. Orders need to be 50 pounds or less and prepaid.
“We are able to offer this service to both locals inside the limits of Susanville but also to anyone who lives on or near one of our county routes,” according to LRB. “This covers parts of Westwood, Clear Creek and Hamilton Branch for our West County Route. On our South and East County Route it covers parts of Janesville, Milford, Doyle and Herlong as well as Leavitt Lake, Standish and Litchfield.
“If you are in the limits of Susanville we will be able to deliver to your door, however for outside the city limits we will be able to deliver to either the end of your driveway or to the closest place our bus is able to safely stop within a 3/4 of a mile limit from our normal route. Our buses are rather long and need room to safely maneuver. This is different for every location so please, be patient with us if we are not able to get to your house directly.
“At the moment, the stores that are offering online ordering in our area are Walmart and
Susanville Supermarket for groceries and Rite Aid and Walgreens offer it for prescriptions. If any other stores wish to offer this service and have us available to deliver, they should call our office at 252-7433 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
