Zócalo Public Square and the California Wellness Foundation invite the public to attend a free public event during a panel discussion, question and answer session and complimentary reception at the Veterans Memorial Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7 to discuss what closing prisons mean for neighboring communities.
Featured guest speakers include Trevor Albertson, President of Lassen Community College; Alma Beltran, Mayor of Parlier, California, and retired correctional officer; John M. Eason, University of Wisconsin sociologist and author; and Keri Blakinger, staff writer at The Marshall Project .
