Janice Joines

Janice Joines, born April 27, 1941 in Elko, Nevada passed away at home on April 2, 2018. She was surrounded by family, and her loving husband of 54 years, Neil.

She was a resident of Susanville for 60 years and worked for various businesses. She was bookkeeper for Tri County Glass for several years, then Citizens Utilities for 10 years and completing her career with D&L Distributing when she retired.

Her hobbies were crocheting, embroidery and cross-stitch. If you ever visited Jan and Neil’s home you would see the beautiful cross-stitch projects that she completed on her walls. She also enjoyed bowling throughout the years.

Preceding her in death were parents, Wilbur and Thelma Wright; and brothers, Vaughn Richardson and Gene Wright.

She is survived by her husband, Neil; sister-in-law, Sharon Joines; stepdaughter, Rhonda Joines and Cassie Reynolds; two sisters, Linda Edwards, of Sacramento, Julie (Keith) Mellor, of Paradise; brother, Wayne Wright, of Sacramento; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to please donate to your favorite charity in Janice’s name. Per her request, there will be no services.

Gina Solari

Gina Solari passed from this life on March 31, 2018, after a courageous battle with breast cancer; which defeated her body but never her spirit. She was born on October 24, 1965 in San Francisco, California, the oldest daughter of Hank and Nancy Mayer.

The family relocated to Modesto, California when she was very young where she attended local schools and graduated from Beyer High School in 1983. She attended Modesto Junior College’s Business Program and then entered the workforce. She followed her dad’s career path and worked for an auto dealership for a few years. She then went to work as the business manager for Vintage Car Wash, a high end full service carwash, Gift Shoppe and café.

In 1992, she met her future husband, Dave Solari. She and Dave were just friends for a couple of years and then began a relationship. Shortly after the relationship began, Dave was transferred to Susanville. Gina reluctantly left her hometown to relocate to Janesville.

She and Dave were married in April of 1998. In 2004, she gave birth to their daughter, Tia who decided to arrive six weeks early while Dave was in Sacramento.

After settling into her new locale, she worked a couple of different jobs until she landed at Willits Motors. She was the office manager until it closed its doors in 2006. She then worked at KJDX in advertising sales for nearly eight years. This was where she was able to meet so many local people and forged many friendships.

She was definitely a people person and loved to visit with everyone she knew. It would take her an hour or more to buy a few items at the grocery store because she had to visit with friends who were also shopping. She had an infectious laugh and was rarely ever seen without a big smile on her face. There is a huge void without her presence around this area.

She is survived by her husband, Dave, and daughter Tia, of Janesville; parents Hank and Nancy, of Paradise, California; sister, Ginger Bergman (Todd), of Paradise, California; sister Erica Headley (Ryan), of Redwood City, California.

A celebration of her life will be held at Janesville Park at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gina’s name to the Northern California Cancer Advocates in Susanville.
