Bruce William Hansen

Bruce W. Hansen was born Aug. 24, 1942 to William Harry and Lucy Hansen in Susanville, California and passed away Oct. 29, 2016 with his sons and wife at his bedside, while in the wonderful care at Hospice of North Idaho.

Bruce was a four year Air Force Veteran, who upon discharge, completed college with a bachelor of science degree in personal management and a minor in accounting. He worked thirteen years auditing for the IRS, then as an internal auditor for several U.S. Army Facilities. Directly after retiring from his auditing career, he obtained a California Real Estate Broker license and worked in sales and property management along with his wife, until he retired.

They moved from Susanville, to the high desert of Northeastern California, and built a hobby ranch where they enjoyed horseback riding and open spaces. In 2011, Bruce and Janie relocated to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where they enjoyed canoeing, bike riding, live plays and symphonies. Bruce was a voracious reader, a top-notch chess player and enjoyed swimming, especially at the KROC Center in Coeur d’Alene. He was of a quiet nature but when he spoke, he had something of importance to share.

Bruce is survived by his wife Janie, sons Mathew, Scott, daughter Karen and six grandchildren.

Our family sincerely appreciate the outstanding care given to our loved one and respect shown our family by the staff at Hospice of North Idaho. There will be no service for Bruce per his wishes.

Donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID, 83835, in Bruce W. Hansen’s memory.
