Donald J. Armentrout

Donald J. Armentrout was born Jan. 11, 1943 in Glendive, Montana to Floyd and Adella Armentrout. Don passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 after a brief illness. Along with his brother Robert (who passed away in 2006), his sister Nan (who passed away in 2003) and their parents, the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when Don was 10. As he became a young man, he served in the United States Army before beginning his career with the Bureau of Land Management. Don was a wildlife biologist for 30 years with BLM and retired in 2006. After retirement, he became very active with the Lassen County Fish and Game Commission and the Sierra Sportsman Club.

Don is survived by many friends and family. Wife, Judy Armentrout; children, Mark (Duress) Newell, daughter Cheri (Mark) Rossi, all of Southern California; grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Erika, Adam and Jacob. He also had an “adopted” mom, Lillian Richert, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to be made to the Wildlife Society at wildlife.org in Don’s name.
