Office of Education provides update on future openings

Patty Gunderson, Superintendent at the Lassen County Office of Education, issued the following update to the community:

On behalf of the Lassen County School District Superintendents, I would like to first say thank you to all of our students, parents, teachers and support staff who have worked together during the last few months to provide education to our children. We all know that there have been extreme ups and downs, and the challenges for all involved have been immense. Our community continues to amaze me, always being able to come together to make the best of difficult situations.

There have been several “guidance” documents that have been released by state and federal resources regarding returning to school in the fall. I want to assure parents and community members that we are working together with our local health officer to determine what needs to be done to ensure that our schools are safe to reopen in August for students and staff alike.

We will continue to work on reopening plans throughout the next few weeks. Each of our individual districts serve unique communities, and we are keeping those communities’ needs in the forefront of our conversations.

I will continue to release communication updates as they become available. If you have specific concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your school or district offices to share those concerns.

And, last but not least, I want to congratulate all of our graduates on their accomplishments, and I know that the future holds exciting possibilities for them all.
