Officers are investigating an early morning crash that resulted in the death of an unidentified pedestrian.
About 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, Susanville Police Department officers responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Main Street near Mesa Street, according to statement from the department.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman in the roadway who sustained major injuries. Officers provided immediate medical care until medical personnel arrived.
According to the statement, the investigation revealed a 31-year-old Susanville resident was driving a 2016 Chevy Suburban traveling westbound on Main Street approaching Mesa Street. The pedestrian was crossing Main Street outside of a crosswalk and was allegedly struck by the front end of the Suburban.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.
