Officers investigate reported shooting
The Susanville Police Department is seeking information regarding a reported shooting at Millview Apartments.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 30, SPD officers responded to Banner Lassen Medical Center on a report of a gunshot victim. The victim, a 31 year old male residing in Susanville, was found at the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound to his neck, according to a statement from the department.
The victim indicates he was in the playground area of the Millview Apartments around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, when he saw a flash and immediately felt pain in his neck. The victim discovered bleeding from his neck but did not go to the hospital immediately. After returning to his apartment and a period of time passed, the victim went to the hospital for treatment.
Per the statement, the victim was eventually transported to an out of the area hospital for treatment to the wound. Officers also noted another fresh wound, but the victim denied being in a type of altercation.
SPD officers examined the scene during the morning hours but are continuing to process the scene for any evidence since daylight this morning with crime scene techs.
