One sustains fatal injuries, two others injured in early morning Highway 395 wreck

One sustained fatal injuries and two others suffered minor injuries in an Aug. 24 collision on Highway 395.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, at about 4:10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24, Robert Sisk, of Burney, California, was driving his Buick northbound on Highway 395 in the northbound lane, just north of Deep Cut Road, at an undetermined speed.

For unknown reasons, the statement read Sisk allowed the Buick to drift to the left into the southbound lane and onto the west dirt shoulder, and the driver attempted to correct by turning to the right.

“Sisk was unable to maintain control of the Buick and overturned. Passenger Cheryl Dodgin, also of Burney, was laying, unrestrained, in the back seat of the Buick. When the Buick overturned, passenger Dodgin was ejected and suffered fatal injuries as a result,” read the statement.

Sisk and the other passenger, Heidi Cruz, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and both parties were transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for complaint of pain.

The cause of this collision is still under investigation. The CHP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call Officer T. Wilder at the Susanville CHP office (530) 252-1900.

CHP would like to remind the public to always drive safe, buckle up and never drink and drive.
