Penny Ellen Lee (Spence) passed away peacefully in Susanville on Jan. 28, 2022. She was born May 31, 1949 to Charles and Donalda Spence in Sacramento, California. Throughout her life, she was a devoted daughter, proud mother and grandmother, loving wife, dear sister and kind friend.
Her loved ones will forever miss her sense of humor and sharp wit. She will be remembered for her willingness to take care of her loved ones, and the lengths she would go to make them smile. She adored Christmas as a time she could be with her family and bring smiles to their faces with her Santa cookies, homemade beef jerky and endless boxes of See’s Candy. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and enjoyed attending services with the Susanville 1st Ward.
Penny is preceded in death by her parents; brother Chuck; and son Sandy (Elizabeth). She is survived by her husband James; and children Pearl (Chuck), Robert (Carrie), Donalda (Jason), Michael (Tyler), Aaron (Katie) and Jamie (Chandler). She also leaves behind her sisters Susan and Phyllis; 10 grandchildren, Kaylee, Caitlin, Jordan, Sabrina, Casey, Grant, Alexia, Daisy, James, and Benjamin; and 1 great-grandchild Maisie.
A celebration of life will be held later in the spring for family and close friends.
