PG&E replacing poles between Chester and Hamilton Branch: Chester to be powered by generator for one week

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is replacing 26 wooden poles and other equipment at various locations along transmission power lines between Hamilton Branch and Chester. While work is underway, PG&E will operate a generator at the Chester Substation to power customers in Chester.

The generator will be operating from July 22 to July 29. The transmission line generally parallels Highway 36 on the south side.

This work will improve electric reliability and safety. A momentary power outage will occur at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, July 29 as PG&E disconnects the generator and returns the substation to transmission line power.
