Police seek suspect in alleged burglary

The Susanville Police Department is seeking a suspect following a report of a broken window and alleged burglary at LASCO/Rooptown Bikes on N. Roop Street Monday, Oct. 28.

The alleged suspect has been identified as Jonathon Miller, 29, of Shasta County. He is described as 6’3, 170 pounds, brown hair, full beard and multiple tattoos on both arms, according to the Susanville Police Department.

Aside from being wanted for the burglary of LASCO/ Rooptown Bikes, the statement continued, Miller allegedly has an active arrest warrant out of Shasta County for possession of a loaded handgun.

Anyone who sees the suspect should contact the police department immediately at 257-2171.

According to the statement, when officers arrived at the store Monday, they discovered a large window on the north side of the business had been broken by what seems to have been a large concrete brick. When the owner arrived, he was unable to determine if anything had been stolen until he did a thorough inventory.

The alleged suspect who broke the window, also left a large machete at the scene, the statement read.

Moreover, per the police department, the store’s owner saw a person on a unique bike that he believed to be from his business at LASCO/ Rooptown Bikes later in the day Monday. While he was on the phone to the police department, the male suspect fled on the bike towards the River Trail. Susanville officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect in the thick trees and bushes.

Earlier this morning, Tuesday, Oct. 29, the suspect was spotted on the River Trail as well. SPD officers responded and located the stolen bike, but were unable to locate the suspect.
