Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2017 at the Eastern Plumas Recreation District Board of Directors meeting beginning at 6:30 pm. Meeting will be held at the Mohawk Community Resources Center, 8989 Hwy 89, Blairsden, CA for the purpose of receiving public comment on the 2017-2018 Budget of the Eastern Plumas Recreation District. At the hearing, all comments by interested persons will be considered. Extended opportunity to Comment on the Frenchman Lake Forest Health Project, Beckwourth Ranger District, Plumas National Forest.
The Beckwourth Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest is soliciting public comments on the proposed Frenchman Lake Forest Health project. The primary objectives of this project are to: increase tree vigor, improve resistance to bark beetle attacks and promote resilience to drought, wildfire and the potential effects of climate change. The proposed activities include: mechanical thinning, hand thinning/hand piling, mastication, grapple piling, pile burning, underburning, decommissioning of non-system roads and road maintenance.
The project area is located approximately 16 miles northeast of Portola, California in Plumas County. The project area includes approximately 850 acres of National Forest System lands neighboring Frenchman Lake. The project area occupies portions of Township 24 North, Range 16 East, Sections 22, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, and 34; Township 24 North, Range 15 East, Section 25, MDBM.

The proposed action and supporting documents are also available for review at the Beckwourth Ranger District, 23 Mohawk Road, Blairsden, CA 96013.
Specific written comments on the proposed project should be received by October 11, 2017 so that they can be considered early during project development and analysis. The Forest Service will consider scoping comments to help identify issues associated with the project.
