Raymond “Ray” Eugene Osborn

Raymond “Ray” Eugene Osborn was born in Springfield, Illinois on Jan. 3, 1927 to William Osborn and Retta Mae Dillon. He died May 25, 2024 at the age of 97 from complications after suffering a fall.

Ray moved to southern California as a young child and attended San Fernando High School. He joined the US Navy in 1945 just prior to graduating. With the help of his daughter, Donna, he finally received his high school diploma at the age of 90.

Ray married Peggy Sue Roberts in 1946. Ray and Peggy moved to Westwood in Northern California in 1971 where he worked for Cal Gas as a propane delivery/serviceman. After retirement, Ray built a house on Ash Street where he and Peggy lived and eventually opened Westwood Mini-Storage and a small antique shop on the property. They operated the business until relocating to Paradise, California in 1990. In 2013, Ray moved to Mesa, Arizona to be near his daughter.

He loved playing bingo, going to the casino, Monday morning coffee and socializing at various events. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and mentor. Ray lived a full and independent life for all of his 97 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, wife Peggy Sue, and son Steven. He leaves behind a daughter, Donna Lesko of Mesa, Arizona and grandson, Brian Russell and wife Melinda, of Chico, California.
