Regional Narcotics Unit detectives arrest two on drug trafficking, weapons charges

Two Reno, Nevada residents — William Nunez and Luis Zepeda-Partida — were arrested by Regional Narcotics Unit detectives Wednesday, Sept. 28 on drug trafficking and weapons charges.
According to a statement from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, in Septemberdetectives launched an investigation related to the suspicious overdose and death of a female found on Sugar Hill Drive in Sun Valley. The investigation revealed evidence of Nunez staging the crime scene prior to the arrival of first responders. Further investigation revealed Nunez to be actively involved in the sale and trafficking of high levels of multiple narcotics.
On Sept. 28, RNU detectives located Nunez and Zepeda-Partida at a local casino and arrested both individuals based on the joint investigations by the Regional Narcotics Unit and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Unit. During the investigation, RNU Detectives were able to recover approximately 12 pounds of methamphetamine as well as trafficking levels of cocaine and fentanyl. Both individuals were also found in possession of firearms.
Nunez was charged with offering false evidence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Zepeda-Partida was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
