It’s not very often family members and friends get to dress up as their favorite superhero and help raise money for a good cause at the same time.
The folks over at Lassen Family Services are gearing up for the 6th annual CASA Superhero 5K Run/Walk held Saturday, Sept. 30 that begins at Fruit Growers Park (Riverside Park), 1700 Sunkist Drive in Susanville. The registration fee is $20, but children under 10 participate free. All proceeds benefit youth in the Court Appointed Special Advocates program that supports youth as they go through the juvenile court system.
According to a statement from LFS, “We’d love to see all the superheroes in our community (meaning each and every one of you) participate in this event whether you want to run the 5K, walk the 5K or have an informational/vendor booth!
“Contact us if you are interested in setting up a booth ((530) 257-4599). If you plan on having a booth, come with an activity that kids will enjoy and have a superhero theme.
“You can register for the 5K at CASAHERO5K.eventbrite.com beginning Sept. 1. The first 25 people to register for the 5K get a free goodie bag. Don’t forget to dress up as your favorite superhero. Last year we saw Captain America, Wonder Woman and even a real live firefighter.”
