The Lassen Grain and Milling Company filed articles of incorporation at the county clerk’s office.
Susanville’s first mill was to be located within the city’s limits and expected to start flour productions of 53 barrels a day. The capital stock of the company was listed as $30,000.

Lassen County Road Commissioner William D. McIntosh announced the appointment of Duane Headley as county road superintendent. Headley replaced Robert Stone, who relinquished the position for health reasons.

The Lassen College men’s basketball team lost to Shasta College 56-52 in a game that decided the Golden Valley Conference championship.
The Cougars settled for second place in the conference. Charles Carradine and Martin Nish, both of whom had their uniforms later retired, combined for a total of 33 points.

The roof on the Lassen High School boy’s gym is in imminent danger of collapsing, following the sudden appearance of a huge crack in its main support beam.
According to Lassen Union High School District Superintendent Jane Maxwell, ice and snow on its roof have caused the gym to experience a major failure of its main support structure.

The city of Susanville and Lassen County will not see a reduction of emergency ambulance services.
The Joint City/County Ad Hoc Ambulance Committee accepted the recommendations of its executive committee and will move to enact an ordinance to regulate emergency care instead of opting to pursue an exclusive operating area approach.
The committee also recommended the establishment of an Emergency Medical Care Committee for policy development and continued oversight.

It’s been nearly 20 years since he committed the crime, but a cold-blooded murderer finally will be held to answer for his actions.
On Feb. 20, a Lassen County jury convicted Wayne Lee Bowen, 48, aka Stephen Johnson, of first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The jury found that sometime during July 1988, Bowen killed Kevin Behm, then 22, of New York, by shooting him twice in the back of the head in an isolated area off Eagle Lake Road, a short distance from where it meets Highway 36.
The first round of playoffs proved to be nothing more than a casual practice for the Lady Grizz team on Feb. 21.
Seeded sixth initially, the Grizzlies hosted the Central Valley Falcons and ultimately blew the birds away with a 72-43 final score.
