Robbins is a preliminary winner in state photo contest

Lassen County nature photographer Randy Robbins, last year’s California Wildlife Photo of the Year winner for his photo of a bald eagle catching a fish, is in the running for the state honor again. No one has ever one the contest twice. While the final winner won’t be announced until January, Robbins came in first place among entries submitted in January and February.

The three top photos are “Gray Wolf Remote Northern Lassen County,” by Robbins, “Juvenile Bald Eagle,” by Randall Finley and “Great Egrets Battling by Michele Douglas.

The winning images will be featured on the CDFW website, Instagram and Facebook and in the March-April 2022 issue of Outdoor California.
