Rogers resigns American Legion Commander post

Larry Rogers has stepped down as commander of the American Legion Thomas tucker Post No. 204.

Here’s copy of his resignation letter.

“In 2017, as many of you know, this post was in danger of losing its charter. Reasons included non-compliance with national and department requirements, loss of tax-exempt status and failure to correct deficiencies during an extended probation period. During this time I was honored to be elected to a one-year term as commander, joining a dedicated number of members in an effort to keep the post alive.

“Today we are in full compliance with all requirements. To get here took a great deal of effort by many members of the post, and I am proud of the small part I played and believe we are on solid ground as we move into our second century. Having said all that, with my one year turning into four, and after a great deal of thought and consultation with others, I have decided new leadership is vital to making sure this post continues to grow and prosper. Therefore, please accept this letter of resignation as commander, effective Sept. 2, 2021.”
