State workers represented by the Service Employees International Union 1000 will hold a PLP Protest Rally at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Lassen Shopping Center on Main Street in Susanville.
According to a statement from Yvonne Walker, president of SEIU Local 1000, negotiations between the state and the union’s 9,600 workers will save the state about $2.8 billion.
Some union members are angry the union president agreed to two days of the Personal Leave Program and a rejection of a pay increase.
According to a statement from Richard Brown, a union representative, “We are disgusted, devastated, dissatisfied, disappointed and demoralized with this travesty.”
The union’s issues include a 9.23 percent PLP pay reduction for two fiscal years, failure to honor to union’s contract with the state, the withdrawal of negotiated and previously approved pay increases and the union president’s failure to adequately represent the workers.
