Schools offer ways for county youth to get meals

Starting Monday, March 23, Lassen County Schools are working together to ensure that all students have the opportunity for two free meals a day.

Any child in the county who is between the ages of 1 and 18 years old will receive a lunch for that day and a breakfast for the following day. The school sites listed below will be open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for meal pick up.

These school sites will be operating a drive through service where you will need to have your children present to receive these two free meals.

Based on USDA meal requirements, the child must be present to receive meals. This means that parents will not be able to pickup meals without their children present.

The following locations will be open to pick up food:

  • McKinley Elementary School
  • Meadow View School
  • Diamond View School
  • Lassen High School – Main parking lot entrance near the Gym

For the surrounding community members outside of Susanville, Lassen Union High School will be doing meal drop-offs at the current bus stops. They can only provide meals to any child who is 1 to 18 years old at these bus stops. County staff will attempt to be as close to the listed times on the schedule as possible, but in order to feed all of our children, please make sure that they are at the bus stop on time, if not five minutes early.

Make sure to check the delivery schedule on the Lassen High School Facebook page.
