Community hospitalizations for COVID-19 have decreased, according to the Tuesday evening Lassen Cares update, but a second inmate death was reported from High Desert State Prison.
As of the 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29 Lassen Cares update, there are 467 active COVID-19 community cases, 932 recovered, 4 are currently hospitalized and there have been seven deaths reported: A total of 1,410 community cases — an increase of 39 new community cases since the Monday update.
At the local correctional institutions, Lassen Cares reports there are 117 active cases, 1,773 recovered and two deaths at High Desert State Prison. Additionally, there are 352 active cases and 716 recovered cases at CCC, and 9 active and 236 recovered at FCI Herlong.
Positive correctional staff tests, if they live in Lassen County, are included in the community cases. As of the Dec. 29 update, according to the CDCR COVID-19 tracker, at CCC there are currently 47 active staff cases, and 83 active staff cases at HDSP.
Locally, there have been 13,358 tests administered, with 11,695 returning negative and 253 pending.
For serology testing, which detects the presence of antibodies in the blood, 263 have been tested, 12 returned positive and 251 returned negative.
