SFD provides 4th of July Fireworks safety information

According to a statement from the Susanville Fire Department, “We have updated the Susanville Municipal Code. Please read carefully.”

Here are the rules and regulations

  • All fireworks must be California state fire marshall approved Safe and Sane.
  • Fireworks are for sale and use inside Susanville city limits only.
  • Fireworks may not be transported outside city limits.
  • Fireworks may only be sold beginning June 28 at noon
  • Booths will be only be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (daily) through July 6 at noon.
  • Fireworks may not be sold, given to, or delivered to anyone under 18 years of age.
  • All fireworks may be used between 6 a.m. July 4, and 12:01 a.m. July 5.
  • If not used properly, fireworks may cause a fire.
  • Fireworks are dangerous, they can cause severe burns or even death.
  • Any firework left on the ground after use is littering.
  • Altering a Safe and Sane firework makes it a “dangerous firework”which is illegal and punishable by fine.
  • Use and sales of fireworks is governed by the Susanville Municipal Code 8.48.
