SFD warns of flooding danger

According to a statement from the SFD, the National Weather Service is forecasting a wet storm affecting our region on Friday, Dec. 30, and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 1.

The rainfall and melt predictions of just under 2 1⁄2 inches will cause the Susan River to enter the monitor stage at 11.3 feet.

Historically, the Susan River is rapidly reactive to this amount of precipitation and melting with increased snow elevations. If you live in areas prone to flooding, be prepared. Link to affected zones: https://zonehaven.link/268zJb

You may use the NOAA National Weather Service California Nevada River Forecast page to track live river levels and precipitation forecasts.

The City of Susanville will notify residents of advisory warnings and emergencies through Zone Haven, and GEM.
