Single-car crash injures Roseville man

A Roseville man suffered minor injures in a single-car rollover crash at the intersection of Highway 36 and the Roxie Peconum Campground Road about 9:35 a.m. Sunday, April 25.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, Caden Ray, 19, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cruz eastbound on Highway 36 at an unknown speed when he “diverted his attention from the roadway to his phone.”

Ray’s vehicle drifted to the right allowing the right-side tires to leave the pavement. Ray turned left to return to the highway but over-corrected. He turned to the right, over-corrected again and lost control. The vehicle exited the roadway and traveled down a dirt embankment before colliding with a reflector post, crossed Roxie Peconum Campground Road, descended an embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

According to the statement, “The Highway Patrol would like to remind everyone to pay attention to the road while they are driving. Even a moment of inattention can result in tragedy. Mr. Ray was fortunate enough to walk away from this collision with apparently only minor injuries due in part to properly wearing his seatbelt.”
