Soroptimists host The Shenanigans Shindig

The Soroptimist Club hosts the Shenanigans Shindig from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 18 at Jensen Hall at the Lassen County Fairgrounds.

All proceeds go to help with the legal costs in the battle to oppose the closure of the California Correctional Center.

“Soroptimist is hosting the fundraiser to benefit the city of Susanville’s legal costs,” said Soroptimist Kerri Cobb. “Our mission is to better the lives of women and children. Our club feels that the majority of the staff at CCC who will lose their jobs will be women. The loss of more than 500 jobs, positions that will not be able to transfer to High Desert, will primarily be office staff. Most of them are women — single or second incomes.”

The evening features beer, wine, Irish spirits, snacks, a pot of gold wheel, Leprechaun limbo, silent auction baskets and a couple’s Leprechaun costume contest (judging at 7:30 p.m.).

Dance the night away to music by popular local band Timeless.

Tickets are $25 per person.
