According to a statement from the Susanville Police Department, Gustavo Aguirre-Cases, 29, of Susanville, died in a single car accident on Skyline Extension, east of Highway 139 Saturday, Jan. 14.
According to the statement, officers were dispatched to the area about 6:40 a.m. Dec. 14 on a report of a collision activation from a vehicle.
Officers located a vehicle on its side after it had driven off the roadway into a small ravine. Officers requested medical respond to the accident, and an officer attempted to contact the driver who was still inside the vehicle.
Once members of the Susanville Fire Department and paramedics arrived on scene, the driver was removed from the vehicle. Paramedics declared the driver deceased at the scene.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and pending results from the Washoe County Medical Examiner.
