Susan River Parkway closed for fuels reduction project

According to a statement from the Susanville Fire Department, the Susan River Parkway is closed to the public from Friday, April 21 through Friday, April 28 due to fuels reduction project.

According to the statement, the Susanville Fire Department, CalFire’s Lassen-Modoc Unit and the city of Susanville will conduct the fuels reduction project. Phase 1 will consist of vegetation clean-up, tree pruning and removing dead and dying flammable materials. Phase 2 will consist of a controlled broadcast burn by fire crews from CalFire’s Lassen-Modoc Unit and Susanville Fire Department on the eastern portion of the city’s property.

Do not be alarmed by visible smoke in the air. The SFD asks the public to use caution while traveling through the area.
