Susan River Parkway remains closed through May 3

The city of Susanville worked closely with CalFire’s Lassen Modoc Uni, this past week conducting a fuels reduction project at the Susan River Parkway. Crews finished Phase 1, consisting of vegetation clean-up, tree pruning, and removing dead and dying flammable materials, and pile burning.

Next week, crews will complete phase 2, consisting of a controlled broadcast burn by fire crews from CalFire Lassen-Modoc Unit and Susanville Fire Department on the eastern portion of the city’s property.

The Parkway will continue to be closed to the public Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Do not be alarmed by visible smoke in the air and use caution while traveling through the area.
