Susanville City Kickettes perform this weekend
One of the season’s most spectacular, popular and enduring shows hits the Veterans Memorial Hall stage this weekend.
The JandJ Performing Arts dancers join the show’s real stars — the Susanville City Kickettes — at the annual Christmas Extraordinaire show at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 and 4 p.m. Dec. 9.
As always, the show features those big, sky-high kicks from the Kickettes, a visit by Santa and all your favorite elves, dolls, toy soldiers, reindeer and much, much more!
But don’t expect the show to be just the same old, same old. A new number in this year’s show features the Kickettes partnering with male dancers who will be lifting the Kickettes in a new piece, “Underneath the Tree,” sure to be a crowd favorite.
“Our True Meaning of Christmas scene is always a memorable moment in the show,” said JandJ owner and the show’s director Jessica Newton-Wade. “We take you through a young dancer’s struggle with a parent being gone on Christmas. The modern dance pieces that accompany the scene highlight the true meaning of why we celebrate with family.”
As always, the show ends with a beautiful live Nativity and a vocal performance.
“Each season the show becomes bigger, while maintaining an intimate feel for the whole audience,” said Newton-Wade. “Your support for our local talented performers is crucial. Watching them grow is the joy, but giving them the confidence is the true benefit to everyone in our community. When we grow strong youth, we build strong communities. Your Susanville City Kickettes will have performed more than 100 hours of community service this season. We are building female leaders, through the art of dance.”
Tickets are available at Margie’s Book Nook and Zaengles Furniture.
