- Drug Awareness Contest due Thursday, Nov. 10.
- Veterans Day Spaghetti Dinner Friday, Nov. 11.
Hoop Shoot — Saturday, Nov. 5
The Susanville Elks Lodge No. 1487 hosts the annual Hoop Shoot at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Johnstonville Elementary School Gym. The contest is open to students between the ages of 8 and 13 as of April 1, 2023. Contestants will shoot a series of free throws. Local winners go on to participate in the state and national programs. Elks have been developing and reinforcing grit for nearly 50 years — long before researchers and experts concluded that grit is so important to our youth. Drug Awareness Contest — Thursday, Nov. 10
The Susanville Elks Lodge No. 1487 sponsors a contest as part of its Drug Awareness Program. The contest is open to all Lassen County students, grades 3 through 12. This year’s theme is “One Pill Can Kill.” Students in grades 3 through 12 enter by making a poster. Posters must be 8 ½ by 11 inches. Students in grades 6 through 8 compete with an essay. All essays must be 250 words of less. All high school students compete in a video contest. Videos must be between 2 and 5 minutes in length and be submitted on a flash drive. Veterans Day Spaghetti Dinner — Friday, Nov. 11
The Susanville Elks Lodge No. 1487 hosts a free Spaghetti Dinner for veterans and their families from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Susanville Elks Lodge.
