Susanville man sentenced after accepting nearly $15,000 from inmates, associates

Wade Allen Reid

Wade Allen Reid, 29, of Susanville, was sentenced today to three years in state prison for violating Penal Code section 68, commonly known as bribery, the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office shared Monday.

Reid, while employed as a correctional supervising cook at the California Correctional Center, accepted nearly $15,000 from inmates and inmate associates between July and November 2019 in exchange for the introduction of cell phones and tobacco into the prison, the statement read.

The role of other individuals suspected to be involved in this matter is still under investigation. The introduction of cellular devices to inmates inside penal institutions creates an increased risk to safety of the staff, the community, as well as other inmates.

The Lassen County District Attorney extended appreciation for staff at CCC, ISU officers, and the CDCR Office of Internal Affairs for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution of this matter.
