As Susanville Police Explorer Captain Jacob Hatton ends his time with the local Susanville Police Explorer Post, advisors, peers and the Susanville City Council recognized him for his dedication and hours served.
According to Susanville Police Officer and Explorer Post Advisor Terra Avilla, Hatton started as an explorer in 2017, promoted to a sergeant and has been a captain for the past year and a half; during which time he graduated high school, attended LCC and worked.
Since in the post, Hatton has completed more than 1,655 hours of community service.
“He wants to go into law enforcement, he is our exemplar of why we have the explorer program,” Avilla said during the recognition ceremony during the Wednesday, Nov. 4 Susanville City Council meeting.
“We expect a lot out of our explorers, and we expect even more from the head leadership position,” said Avilla.
During a farewell party for the explorer captain, Avilla said fellow explorers shared Hatton has been a great leader not only by bringing out the best in others, but by being kind and welcoming to many as they joined the program.
