Susanville songwriter releases new single, video

As Susanville songwriter Daniel Weidauer puts the finishing touches on a new album coming out soon, he just released the first single from his latest project.

The new single, “Early Days in America,” recounts the experiences of an emigrant “crossing the great divide” and finding his way in a new land while still remembering the old world he left behind “from the other side.”

Weidauer knows about such things. He hails from Steinberg, Germany, a tiny little town near the border with Czech Republic created by the merger of three villages in 1994. Almost eight years ago, he married a Susanville woman he met in Southern California. They lived in Germany for several years, but the couple returned to Susanville, her hometown, in June 2022.

As a special treat for Susanville viewers, Weidauer and Brandon Johnson filmed the video for the new song right here in Uptown Susanville. While Weidauer is credited with “music, lyrics and all the other stuff,” Philipp Wappler added electric piano and the Markus Koppe mastered the track.

You can find Weidauer’s music on Bandcamp, YouTube, Facebook, Apple Music, his own website and more.
