Swimming Grizzlies host meet at Honey Lake Community Pool

Excitement and anticipation surrounded the first-ever home swim meet hosted by Lassen High School swim team on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Honey Lake Community Pool.

The Grizzlies competed against three other teams; U-Prep, Redding Christian and Anderson.

The competition was laid out into 22 events with the boys competing in the odd number events, and girls in the even numbers. Each event was broke down into particular relays determining which strokes to use in what order to use them, and what distance the swimmers must complete.

Swimmers competed in short-course swimming-each lane is 25 yards making a minimum of two laps in any given event.
Overall Lassen boys took second in their group, girls took third. U-Prep came in first in both categories.

The competition showed a level of sportsmanship unseen in most sports.

The competing teams rooted for each other on, with no animosity shared between any of the swimmers, which brought levity to the meet.

This meet marks number four for Lassen this season, having previously competed at West Valley on Aug. 29 and Anderson on Sept. 5 and Wednesday Sept. 12.

Grizzlies will be back at West Valley on Wednesday Oct. 3, then back at home Wednesday, Oct. 10.
