Swing Band performs Saturday, March 19 at Elks Lodge

If you’re a fan of music from the Swing Era, you won’t want to miss the Susanville Symphony Society’s Swing Band in concert one night only, Saturday, March 19, at the Elks Lodge.

“For more than a decade, we have been bringing the Swing Era to the good people of Susanville,” said Ben Wade, the society’s artistic director and maestro. “A big shout out to Matt Mullin for making this concert so revered. The legacy he leaves for all of our concert goers is very much appreciated.”

Mullin directed the Swing Band for the first decade, pioneering the use of authentic-to-the-era musical charts for those who follow. Mullin now plays fourth trombone Ala Tuba in the brass section of the band.

“Come to the only venue in Lassen County with a live big band and a dance floor,” Wade said. “From Frank Sinatra to Glen Miller, we’ve got something for everybody young and old as well as chart toppers from the 20s 30s 40s and beyond.”

Advance tickets are available at Margie’s Book Nook or Axia Home Loans. The bar opens at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m.
