Symphony society postpones Pops Concert

Ben Wade, conductor of the Susanville Symphony Orchestra, announced the cancellation of this month’s Pop Concert in May 8 letter to the community.

According to Wade’s letter, the Susanville Symphony Society’s “number one priority and concern is for the safety and well being of our patrons … and with this being said, we are going to have to postpone our Pops Concert until further notice.”

The symphony board considered postponing the Pops Concert, originally scheduled for next weekend, until late June, perhaps in an outdoor setting, but the governor has not yet provided any guidance on when performing arts concerts should be held again.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Wade wrote the symphony board continues planning the 2020/2021 concert season will reduce concert presentations to one Saturday performance next season only.

Patrons, fans and supporters with questions should call the Susanville Symphony Hotline at 310-8111.

“Please stay safe,” Wade wrote. “Stay healthy. Know we miss you and your smiling faces. Our hearts are warmed with each concert we produce, and we truly look forward to being together again soon.”
