Teen faces murder charges
Terry Peters, 19, was arrested on murder charges after an early morning Wednesday, Aug. 10 incident that allegedly resulted in the death of an unidentified 56-year-old man.
According to a statement from the Susanville Police Department, officers responded to a reported assault at a residence on the 600 block of Plum Street.
Officers arrived at the scene in less than 2 minutes and were directed to the backyard where the unidentified man was found sitting in a chair. Officers remained on scene to conduct an investigation, and after speaking with witnesses at the scene, they contacted Peter, a person identified as the alleged assailant in another backyard. He was taken into custody without incident.

While officers were still collecting evidence and taking statements, at 3:46 a.m. BLMC advised man had succumbed to his injury.
Peters was transported and booked into the Lassen County Jail on a single count of Homicide. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct the coroners case and scheduling of the autopsy at the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office in Reno, Nevada.
Because this incident is in the initial phase of the investigation, future details of the incident and the name of the victim will be released after notification to next of kin has been completed.
