The Times welcomes new sports writer
Being new to the field of sports writing — instead of just watching or participating — is a whole new field I have not played on yet.
I was born and raised here in Susanville, and I am accustomed to the importance of our local sports teams and players. I played soccer and baseball, and the strategy behind it all is what I admire about those sports.
Now, being in a position to study them more and report on them is a great opportunity.
After high school, I went into the U.S. Navy. I was discharged due to medical reasons. Afterward, I went to the Bay Area to follow up on my education.

With a background in graphic design, I received a bachelor’s degree in visual communications at ITT Technical Institute in Concord, California. I worked at multiple small- and large-format print shops in the Bay Area, doing everything from banners and vinyl lettering to vinyl car wraps.
Moving back to Susanville, I continued my profession at the local UPS Store, and Supreme Graphics.
Recently, I was given the opportunity to cover the local MMA event, High Desert Brawl 13, for the Lassen County Times.
Covering the event opened the door for me to step in for the wonderful Ashley Grogan, who helped supply me with the information I need to succeed.
I hope to build the same level of trust and continue the amazing relationship between our local players, coaches and parents.

See you on the field!
