Think snow! Think Coppervale!

OK. Maybe there’s only a few inches of snow on the slopes at the Coppervale Ski Area so far, but the facility is all ready to open as soon as a little more of the white stuff falls.

If you’re looking for information about the ski hill, owned by Lassen Community College, or current conditions, there is a new snowphone number — 251-8841.

Norm Wilson, Coppervale’s manager, said the inspections of the Ppma lift have been completed, insurance has been purchased and, “We’re ready to roll. We just need some more snow.”

He said the hill needs about 18 inches of snow to operate.

Wilson praised the inmate crews who helped clear brush this year, and that lets the facility open earlier with less snow and improves the experience for those using the slopes.

He also said the Coppervale Ski Area has a new Facebook page, and he’d like people to visit and like it. He said he puts updates on the Facebook page and on the snowphone to keep the public informed of the current conditions at the ski hill.
