This year’s Safe and Sane Halloween event held at Frank Ernaga Field

Great news for local youngsters who like to dress up and collect lots of sweet treats on Halloween.

The COVID-19 pandemic won’t stop Susanville’s Safe and Sane Halloween celebration — one of most anticipated and fun-filled events of the year for little ones in our community (and some bigger ones, too).

According to a statement from the city of Susanville, the city will sponsor the Safe and Sane event from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Frank Ernaga Field at Memorial Park on North Street.

Kasen Mankins looks like he can bust out singing “Shiny” at any moment as Tamatoa, the crab from “Moana” during last year’s Safe and Sane event.

According to the statement, “We are seeking businesses, organizations, groups and people to participate in the giving of candy or other items for the youth attending this event. Please call Jolene Arredondo at 252-5106 or email her at jarredondo@cityofsusanville.org to register your business, organization or group.”
