Track and Field has winning performance at home
Wednesday, April 24 the Lassen High School held its only home track and field meet of the season at Arnold Field against the visiting Central Valley, and U-Prep.
Varsity girls’ results:
100 meters –– Lassen’s Kelli Walsh finished in fourth at 14.8 seconds and Rylie Mohr finished in ninth at 16.9.
100 meter-33” hurdles had Lassen’s Caitlyn Crosby finishing at 20.1 seconds. Crosby also finished fifth place in the varsity girls 300 meter-30” hurdles with a 1:05.1.
4kg shot put –– Lassen went first with Lady Grizzly Cynthia Melton with a 31 foot 11.75 inch throw, setting a season record. Isabella Geoia followed with a 30’-03. 35” toss.
1kg discus throw –– Geoia came in fourth for the event with a 83’ throw, Melton in fifth with a 80’-05. 5.
High jump –– Crosby placed third with a 3’-10” jump.
Long jump –– Walsh finished in fourth place with a 13’-05.5 jump, setting a personal record. Rylie Mohr finished ninth finishing with a 10’-08.00 long jump.
Triple jump –– Genesy Davis finished in fifth with a 23’-04.5”.
JV girls’ results:
100 meter had Lassen’s Keiran Dollar in first at 14.2, second was Madison Smith with a new personal record of 14.4, fourth place was Lassen’s Na’Tasja Allen recording a 14.7 also a new personal record.
200 meter had Dollar in third place at 31.9, in fourth place Allen finished at 31.9, and Katelyn Ernaga was fifth with a time of 32.6.
400 meter Dollar took first with a time of one minute, and nine seconds. In second was Jodi Chandler at 1:15.0, and in third place was Madison Smith at 1:16.0.
4×100 relay –– Lassen took second place with runners, Allen, Gaige Thompson, Julia Bias, and Smith finishing with a time of 1:02.0.
4kg shot put –– Allison Magarell took second with a new personal record of 81’ flat.
Long Jump – Hannah Danes set a new personal record with a 12’-02.5” jump.
Triple Jump –– Gaige Thompson took first place for JV girls with a 28’-00.75” jump.
Varsity boys’ results:
100 meters –– Derek Bettencourt placed first with a time of 11.7, Nick Valdez finished fifth for Lassen timing in 11.8, and Dallin Lee followed right behind in sixth place with a time of 12.2.
200 meters –– Senior Nathan Acosta took fourth place for Lassen clocking in with 24.4 setting a new personal record, and Skyler Sager finished in fifth place just behind Acosta finishing with a time of 26.7.
400 meters –– Sager placed fifth for Lassen timing in at 59.0 and Sterling Chandler finished eighth just over one second behind Sager at 1:00.9.
800 meters — Neil Growdon finished second for Lassen with 2:20.8.
1600 meters –– Davenport finished in second recording a final time of 5:13.3, then in fifth was Trenton Morgan timing in at 5:30.7. Both competed in the 3200-meter as well with Davenport finishing in first place with a time of 11:34.3, and Morgan in fourth place for Lassen with final time of 13:09.8.
300 meter hurdles 36” –– Chandler took first place with a final time of 49.1 seconds.
Shot put 12lb –– Bradley Wood took the first place spot with a 45’-08.25”, with fellow Lassen teammate Elijah Morales finishing third place with a 41’-03.00 throw setting a new personal record for the Junior.
Discus 1.6kg –– Lassen took the top three spots for the varsity boys discus throw, in first place was Woods with a throw reaching 134’-04.00” that would be the second personal record set by Woods at the home meet.
Growdon took second place in the discus with a 125’-06.00”, and in third place was Josh Harlow, throwing 121’-03.00”.
High jump –– Dallin Lee took first for the Lassen team setting a season record of 6’-00.00”. Ryne Delgado finished fourth place with a 4’-10.00”, and in fifth for Lassen was William Merkle with a new personal record jump of 4”-08.00”.
Long jump –– Senior Kenneth Schier took seventh place with a 15’-04.00” leap, following in eighth place was Miguel Martinez recording a 15’-03.5” leap, in ninth place was Merkle with another personal record jumping 15’-00.00.
Triple jump –– Shier finished in third for the Lassen team with 32’-10.00.
JV boys’ results:
100 meter –– In seventh place was Lassen runner Elijah Wheeler finishing 13.2, and following in eighth place was his teammate Bobby Robles with a time of 13.5 seconds.
200 meter –– Robles finished second place for Lassen with a time of 27.9, teammate Spencer Krier finished in fifth place timing in at 33.2.
400 meter –– Lassen’s Krier was the only Lassen runner finishing in sixth place with a 1:05.0 final time.
800 meter –– Lassen’s Tobias Hall finished in second place with a time of 2:20.8.
1600 meter –– Hall took first place, with Lassen runners Jacob Daniels taking third place and Jack Duncan finishing fourth place times were not reported.
3200 meter –– Daniels finished in second for Lassen with a final time of 12:59.5.
300 meter hurdles 36” –– Lassen took first with Waylon Miller timing in at 52.7 seconds.
Shotput 12lb –– Finishing in ninth for Lassen was Jo-Jo Villareal throwing 27’-07.00”. Villareal would also compete for Lassen in the discus throw placing fifth throwing 67’-03.5.
High Jump –– Jack Duncan would take second for Lassen with a jump reaching 5’-04.00 setting a new personal record for the sophomore.
Long Jump –– Freshman Wheeler would take second place for Lassen with a new personal record of 16’-08.00”. Robles followed in fourth place with a 16’-03.00”, Krier took eighth place jumping 13’-05.00”.

The Lassen High School track and field team headed down Bob Reid stadium in Anderson, California Friday, May 3 to compete in the NAL championships.
