Transient encampment fire burns off Riverside Drive

The Susanville Fire Department responded to a report of smoke behind 1625 Riverside Drive about 7 p.m. April 15.

An engine arrived on scene and found 20-foot by 30-foot vegetation fire in a transient encampment.

Additional resources were requested, and fire crews extinguished the blaze about 7:30 p.m.

Three fire engines, 10 firefighters and one chief officer that responded to this incident. There were no fire service or civilian injuries.

CalFire, the Susan River Fire Protection District and the Susanville Police Department assisted the SFD. The fire is determined to be human caused.
