Transient faces arson charge

On Wednesday, April 15, officers from Susanville Police Department, with assistance from the Susanville Fire Department and Lassen County District Attorney’s Office, arrested a woman on two counts of arson after finding her to be responsible for two structure fires.

After consecutive days of suspicious fires of non-occupied dwellings, (one on Hall Street and the other on First Street), SPD officers identified a suspect in both cases.

The investigation revealed local transient Courtney Oliver, 25, of Susanville, was suspected in both structure fires. She was booked after an investigation concluded she allegedly set fire to a previously partially burned house on Tuesday afternoon and an unoccupied structure on First Street in the early morning hours Thursday.

Oliver was booked into the Lassen County Jail and held on $45,000 bail.
