Update on Whiskey Creek Bridge inspections

Nov. 7: Bridge inspection work continues at Whiskey Creek Bridge on Highway 299 at Whiskeytown Lake. Caltrans and contractor Steelhead Constructors Inc. have been removing paint throughout the bridge structure and ultrasonic inspections are planned to begin upcoming. These inspections are a part of a nationwide effort lead by the Federal Highway Administration on similar steel bridges and welds.

Work continues on the Whiskey Creek Bridge.

Motorists should now plan for one-way traffic control in the area 7 days a week during daytime hours, with up to 15-minute delays. Work and operations are dependent on weather and temperatures.

Motorists should also note that traffic control speeds via pilot car are being held to 10 miles per hour or under to reduce movement on the extended work platform provided by the Under Bridge Inspection Trailer.

Plan for delays and travel slowly and carefully around crews working and be sure to check QuickMap prior to travel for updated highway conditions.

You can also contact the Caltrans District 2 Public Information Office by phone at (530)225-3426 or email at D2PIO@dot.ca.gov with questions.

Thank you for your patience during these operations.
