Although Lassen Municipal Utility District doesn’t expect any power interruptions, the local utility is asking consumers to conserve power usage during CAISO’s flex alert continued for today.
“Due to extreme heat forecasts, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has extended its Flex Alert into today, Friday, June 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Although LMUD does not anticipate any interruption in power due to the statewide alert, we are asking our customers to conserve as much as possible to help the state balance the high electricity demand,” the utility shared.
Ways to lower power usage during the flex alert include:
Adjust your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher. Turn off if you will not be home.
Use a fan instead of air conditioning, when possible.
Draw drapes and turn off unnecessary lighting.
Keep refrigerator full (with bottles of water if nothing else) and unplug the second refrigerator.
Avoid using electrical appliances and devices. Put off tasks like vacuuming, laundry, dish washing and computer time until after dinner (9 p.m.).
Set your pool pump to run overnight instead of during the day.
