Varsity softball ends the year with a perfect league record

Lassen softball closed the season last week with a 9-2 road win over U-prep Thursday, May 27.

Mila Knezevich, in movie like fashion playing on a injured leg, hit a two run home run in her final at bat as a Grizzly and then had to move very slowly around the bases before being mobbed at home plate by her teammates. Knezevich then had to leave the game. Reegan Floyd struck out 10 and Katie Marsh and Graceyn Harlan each went 3-4 as Lassen finished a perfect league season going 10-0. Lassen finished with a 17-3 overall record.

“I told the players after the game that they were obviously a great team as the 17-3 record proves, but more importantly, to me they are even better young ladies than they are athletes. I have coached multiple sports over my 33 year coaching career and I can tell you this was one of the easiest teams to coach I have endured. No drama, no academic problems, and they just came to compete each day,” wrote Head Coach Paul Moore. “Words will never express how much I have enjoyed coaching this group and I will truly miss the four seniors, Reegan Floyd, Lily Del Carlo, Katie Parady, and Milea Knezevich.”

“I would also like to say a huge thank you to assistant coach Glen Yonan. Having the opportunity to work with a California Junior College Hall of Fame Coach has been beyond amazing. Not only is he a great coach but the amount of time he and his crew spent on making the Lassen College field the best in the North Section has to be over hundreds of hours,” Moore added.
