Vehicle stop leads to two arrests
A Doyle man and a Janesville man are in custody following a Friday evening traffic stop.
According to a statement from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, about 7:21 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the Janesville area for vehicle code violations.
Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as John Earl Colton Smith, 23, of Doyle, and the passenger Larry Lewis Stratton, 45, of Janesville. Deputies determined that Smith’s drivers license was suspended, and Stratton was on active Post Release Community Supervision with search terms.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded firearm that was concealed behind the front seat of the vehicle. Deputies also located two glass smoking devices with a white residue, commonly used to ingest methamphetamine.
Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Lassen County Jail on the following charges
John Earl Colton Smith
29800(a)(1) PC- Felon/addict in possession of a firearm.
30305(a)(1) PC- Prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
11364 H&S- Possession of drug paraphernalia.
14601.1(a) CVC- Driving on a suspended license.
Larry Lewis Stratton
29800(a)(1) PC- Felon/addict in possession of a firearm.
30305(a)(1) PC- Prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
3455 PC- Revocation of Post Release Community Supervision.
