On Saturday, May 20, at approximately 5 a.m. Susanville police officers responded to the Verizon Store, 800 Main Street, in regards to a burglary in progress. Officers arrived and discovered a previously boarded back door had been torn out.
Officers entered the business but did not find the subjects inside.
The Susanville police officers were able to make contact with a responsible party at the store and were able to identify items taken from the business.
California Highway Patrol officers in the area were able to locate a vehicle and began a pursuit, eventually detaining one of the two subjects. The subject detained was identified to be Richard Anthony Lenning.
When Susanville police responded to the location of CHP, the stolen property was identified in the vehicle. The Susanville Police Department would like to acknowledge the Lassen County Sheriff ’s Office and the California Highway Patrol for their assistance during the incident.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for the prosecution of further charges including burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.
